Mesotherapy

The newest and latest form of body sculpting has finally arrived in Canada. Localized pockets of fat and cellulite can now be treated safely and effectively, without the need for surgery. Mesotherapy is a technique developed in France over 40 years ago which involves injecting medications either directly into the skin or into the fat layer using tiny needles the size of a human hair. Mesotherapy has become more popular in North America in recent years for the reduction of localized fat and cellulite and for facial rejuvenation. The procedure is carried out by a licensed physician, specially trained in the use of Mesotherapy.

How Does Mesotherapy Work?
A precise combination of medications, vitamins, and amino acids are injected directly into either skin or fat to achieve a specific result. The solution is delivered through a series of injections using a very fine needle the size of a human hair. Localized pockets of fat or cellulite are literally dissolved and excreted harmlessly by the body. Each component within each of the solutions used in Mesotherapy has been extensively researched and used safely for decades.

What is a Mesolift?
Mesolifts are the non-surgical alternative to a face-lift and skin rejuvenation. While tightening and firming the skin, it also rehydrates and provides the skin with essential nutrients in the form of vitamins, minerals, and amino acids. A series of tiny micro-channels are created along the face, which allows the solution to penetrate into the deeper layers of the skin. As a result, the skin becomes temporarily red and then begins to feel tight and firm. After several days, the skin looks tighter, softer, healthier and more vibrant than ever.

What results can I expect?
When treating areas of fat or cellulite, visible improvement can be seen in as few as 1 to 3 treatments. Immediately following the treatment, the area will be red, swollen, and tender for several days. Pockets of fat will then gradually decrease in size and areas of cellulite will become smoother. With Mesolift treatments, the skin will gradually become tighter, much like a mini face-lift, and look healthier and more vibrant than ever.

Is it safe?
Mesotherapy has been practiced safely in Europe for over 40 years without any significant side effects. As with any invasive or needle type procedure, there is always a risk of bleeding, bruising, or infection. However, with proper technique, no serious side effects have been reported. For the treatment of fat and cellulite, it is common to experience some mild redness, swelling, itching, and soreness for several days. A mild burning sensation is often felt for several hours after injection as the medication dissolves the target fat or cellulite. Bruising around the area of injection is also common and can last up to 1-2 weeks.  With Mesolift treatments, red lines or scratches on the face are visible immediately after treatment, but resolve within 20-30 minutes. Some mild redness, burning or itchiness may occur, but generally resolve within a few days, leaving the skin looking vibrant and glowing.

Is it painful?
Because Mesotherapy involves the use of needles, some discomfort is generally unavoidable. However, the needles used are no larger than the size of a human hair and topical numbing cream is typically prescribed prior to treatment.

How often are treatments done?
Treatments are usually spaced 1-2 weeks apart. The total number of treatments required and the exact time frame between treatments varies between individuals. Mesolifts are generally done approximately six months apart. Some people may be satisfied after just one or two treatments, whereas others may require ten or more to achieve the desired result.
